The Bradby copy of the first collection edition, modeled on the first folio, in a contemporary binding and with The Wild Goose-Chase bound in. The final entry in the "Trimvirate of Wit" alongside Jonson and Shakespeare, John Fletcher succeeded Shakespeare as the house playwright of the King's Men. He collaborated widely, not only with Beaumont but other contemporary writers, including Massinger, Field, and Shakespeare himself. Probably edited by the dramatist James Shirley, this collection contains all the hitherto unpublished plays by Beaumont and Fletcher, except The Wild Goose-Chase, the manuscript of this having been lost. The present copy is bound with that lost play, printed in 1652. This is one of Humphrey Mosley's most important publications, printed by a gaggle of printers including Ruth Raworth. Marshall, ornamental head- and tail-pieces (dampstain at lower edge, a little worming in bottom gutter). Contemporary blind-ruled calf, red and brown speckled edges (rebacked).
