A scarce essay on the great archeology collection of the Nani family of San Trovaso which was kept in the Nani palace (ex Barbarigo). The collection was started by the brothers Paolo and Antonio Nani "by sending to Venice from the Kingdom of Morea.. some number of tombstones" and was increased by the sons Bernardo and Jacopo, who made it "the most splendid among those of eighteenth-century Venice" (Favaretto 1991, 77).
4to (273 x 195mm). 4 parts in one volume, engraved vignette on titles, headpieces and several engraved illustrations in text, one plate (occasional spotting). Contemporary vellum with manuscript title on spine, speckled edges. Provenance: a contemporary manuscript inscription ahead ot the title containing the list of works listed in the book.
