Rare Lou Gehrig Professional Model Baseball bat c.1929-31 (PSA/DNA GU 8)

Louisville Slugger 125 model hickory bat measuring 34 ¾" long with a weight of 35 ounces. Handsomely grained bat exhibits fine evident use including ball marks, stitching impressions (both left and back barrel areas), and cleat marks. Rich brown finish retains fine original patination with strong facsimile signature and manufacturer's stampings. As referenced within the included PSA/DNA letter the bat is consistent with Hillerich & Bradsby Co. factory bat ordering records for Lou Gehrig between 1929-31 denoting use of "hickory" model bats. Further detail from the factory records regarding bat specifications compare most favorably to likely use during the 1931 season.

Gehrig's 1931 season was one of the most impressive of his Hall of Fame career with .341 batting average, 163 runs scored, 46 home runs, 211 hits, and 185 RBI's, all but one of which were tops in the American League. Lou Gehrig professional model game bats of quality are among the most sought after and infrequently offered of any Hall of Fame player from the 1920-30s era. Includes LOA from PSA/DNA (GU 8) with MEARS hologram affixed: EX
