Vorschlagsliste Nr. 9 vom 24.11.41 mit vierseitiger maschinengeschriebener Begründung (gelocht) durch den SS-Obergruppenführer Hauser. Mit der Schilderung von Bittrichs Erfolgen als Regimentskommandeur des SS-Regiments "Deutschland" bei dem aus eigenem Entschluss erfolgten Angriff und der Eroberung einer Schutzstellung vor Moskau bei Gshatsk-Moshaisk mit Auflistung des erbeuteten Materials.

Four pages, manila-colored paper, typed recommendation by SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Waffen-SS Hauser for the award of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross to Wilhelm Bittrich, dated 19.10.41. Includes short explanation of Bittrich’s successful efforts as “Deutschland” regimental commander during actions in the Battle of Jelna in July of ’41 and the attack and capture of the Gshatsk-Moshaisk road and armaments from Russian defensive positions in October of ’41. With ink signature by the SS-Hauptsturmführer adjutant to Hauser. All pages with sharp corners, no tears or damage, staple holes at upper left corner, two punch holes for binder insertion. Includes typewritten English translation. Wilhelm Bittrich (26 February 1894 – 19 April 1979), high-ranking Waffen-SS commander. From August 1942 through February 1943, Bittrich commanded the SS Cavalry Division Florian Geyer, in rear security operations (Bandenbekämpfung, literally "bandit fighting") in the Soviet Union. From July 1944 until the end of the war Bittrich commanded the 2nd SS Panzer Corps in Normandy, during Market Garden, and in Hungary. After his arrest in May 1945, Bittrich was extradited to France on charges of having ordered the execution of 17 members of the French Resistance. He was tried, convicted, and sentenced to five years in prison. Following his release, Bittrich became active in HIAG, and a lobby group of former Waffen-SS members and served as chairman during the 1970s.
