First editions of two of the most interesting works by the young Trissino. The editions of Ludovico degli Arrighi are renown for the beauty of the designed and engraved fonts and it is the experiments, conducted by Arrighi together with Trissino, that outline the strong relationship of the two similar to the one that united Aldus Manutius and Griffo. For example, in the second work, Epistola, the epsilon and the omega are frequently used instead of the "e" and the "o". The first work, I Ritratti, is modeled on Luciano's Ritratti, written in the form of a speech between Cardinal Bembo and Vicenzo Macro, the same who later sponsored his edition of La Italia liberata. The subject of the dialogue is the description of female beauties based on the comparison between five contemporary ladies, including the wife of Trissino himself and Isabella d'Este.
2 works in 2 volumes, 8vo (196 x 130mm). (Light foxing). 18th-century marbled boards backed in dark leather decorated in gilt, vellum corners (extremities a touched rubbed, later endpapers). (2)
