Assortment of remains from a Zeppelin shot down over Cuffley in Hertfordshire, UK, by British Lieutenant William Leefe Robinson, which earned him the Victoria Cross. On September 3, 1916, the Schütte-Lanze 11 had bombed Albans during the largest German bombing of the war. Robinson, of the Royal Flying Corps, attacked the airship by positioning his plane below the airship and brought it down with machine gun fire. It was the first German airship to be shot down in the UK. The remains consist of six pieces of debris with three provenance cards from the Whitehall Theatre of War London War Museum and one British Red Cross Society card issued with pieces sold to help the wounded at the front.
