MAKER'S MARK S ON A CROSS, POSSIBLY FOR ISAAC SUTTON, LONDON, 1580
Cylindrical raised on waisted circular feet, the sides engraved with two coats-of-arms within foliate mantles spaced by banners with quotes, the upper rim with a border of scrolls and engraved with the initials WF, marked near upper rim and with French tax marks

13 oz. 12 dwt. (423 gr.)
The arms are those of Farington of Worden quartering Farington of Farington impaling another, possibly Talbot for William Farington (1537-1610) and his wife Jane Anne Talbot.




Provenance

For William Farington of Worden Hall, Leyland, County Lancashire (1537-1610), and his wife Jane Anne Talbot (c. 1540-1622), daughter of Sir Thomas Talbot of Bashall, County York.
