A group of six volumes, comprising:

Robert GRAVES (1895-1985). The Golden Fleece. London: Cassell and Company Ltd., 1944.
First edition, presentation copy inscribed to Agatha Christie. Octavo. (A few corners dog-eared.) Original blue boards, spine lettered in gilt, decorative cartographic endpapers (extremities rubbed, corners bumped, stains to covers and spine, spine faded); original price-clipped dust-jacket (extremities rubbed, spine faded, lower cover lightly soiled, some chips, creases and small closed tears). Provenance: Agatha Christie (1890-1976, famed detective fiction author) and Max Mallowan (1904-1978, prominent British archaeologist and Christie’s husband, the pair were neighbours and friends of the author; authorial presentation inscription to front free endpaper, dated 1944).

HUXLEY, Aldous (1894-1963). Jonah. Oxford: Privately printed for the author by the Holywell Press, 1917.
First edition, presentation copy. Sole printing. One of approximately 50 copies. Octavo. Single quire sewn, self wrappers printed in black (very lightly dust-soiled); modern green cloth portfolio and matching quarter morocco slipcase. Provenance: two authorial presentation inscriptions to upper wrapper: ‘Seasonable wishes Aldous Huxley’ and ‘There is a grammatical mistake in one of the French pieces. Alcove should be feminine – quite rightly! Aldous Huxley New York May 1926’.

MORRISON, Arthur (1863-1945). The Hole in the Wall. London: Methuen & Co., 1902.
First edition, presentation copy. Octavo. (Scattered spotting, some tears). Original dark green cloth, spine and upper cover lettered in gilt (extremities faintly rubbed, endpapers browned, some splitting to textblock and upper hinge). Provenance: Edgar Wallace (1875-1932, British writer of detective and gangster novels; authorial presentation inscription to half-title).

HAMILTON, Patrick (1904-1962). Gas Light. A Victorian Thriller in Three Acts. London: Constable and Company Ltd., 1939.
First edition, presentation copy. Octavo. Original pictorial blue wrappers (extremities lightly rubbed, small chip at foot of spine, spine and edges sunned, lightly marked); housed in modern blue cloth box. Provenance: Milton Rosmer (authorial presentation inscription to half-title ‘My Dear Milton, “I very much doubt whether the world will ever quite know what you have done for this play, but God does! – and so we must leave it at that.” Thank you for your brilliant creation of Rough, Patrick, 19.1.39’.

MACPHERSON, Donald [George Humphrey] (1889-1966). Go Home Unicorn. London: Faber and Faber Limited, [1935].
First edition. Octavo. (Scattered marginal spotting.) Original red cloth, spine lettered in black (extremities lightly rubbed, endpapers browned); original dust-jacket (lightly soiled, some edge wear and creases, upper panel with small closed tear repaired with tape on verso, chip to foot of upper panel).

MASON, A.E.W. (1865-1948). The Dean’s Elbow. London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1930.
First edition. Octavo. Four leaves of publisher’s ads at end (some splitting between between title and half-title, light marginal spotting to first few leaves). Original blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt, upper cover lettered in black (spine faded, white scattered stains to covers); original pictorial dust-jacket (lightly rubbed and creased, a few small chips or tears to corners and one closed tear into upper panel, lightly marked). Provenance: E. Burgess (ownership inscription to front free endpaper).
