A group of ten volumes, comprising:

WODEHOUSE, P. G. (1881-1975). Hot Water. London: Herbert Jenkins, 1932.  
First edition. McIlvaine A47(a). Octavo. Four leaves of publisher’s ads at end (A/8 and B/1 with residual glue causing some textual loss and short tear, a few small marginal stains). Original orange cloth, covers and spine with titles and publisher’s device stamped in black (extremities lightly rubbed, spine a touch faded, rear hinge tender); original dust-jacket with illustration by Abbey, the freshness of the price on the spine perhaps suggesting the recent removal of an early sticker (lightly soiled and scuffed around edges, with several small creases, tears and nicks, sometime lined with thick paper, price to spine restored).

The Luck Stone. London: Galahad Books, 1997.  
First edition. Not in McIlvaine.  Octavo. Original burgundy full morocco, spine lettered and ruled in gilt, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt; housed in publisher’s burgundy cloth slipcase. Provenance: Tony Ring (editor of The Luck Stone; presentation inscription to;) — Nigel Williams (the publisher).

A Gentleman of Leisure. London: Alton Rivers Ltd. 1910.  
First English edition. McIlvaine A13(b). Octavo. 2 integral leaves of publisher’s ads at end (scattered light spotting). Original royal blue cloth, upper cover and spine titled in gilt (lacking the dust-jacket, extremities lightly rubbed, headcap bruised, spine tanned). Provenance: Frits Menschaar (no internal evidence of provenance).

Big Money. London: Herbert Jenkins Limited, 1931.  
First English edition. McIlvaine A43(b). Octavo. 4 leaves of publisher’s ads at end (light spotting to first and last gatherings). Original orange cloth, spine and upper cover titled, lower cover and spine with publisher’s device, all in black (covers faded and with offsetting from dust-jacket, head- and tailcap sunned); original dust-jacket with illustration by Batchelor, H. B. Studio (rubbed, some tape repairs to verso, several large creases, tears and chips with textual loss to spine and upper cover, spine faded).

Uncle Fred in Springtime. London: Herbert Jenkins Limited, 1939. 
First English edition. McIlvaine A61(b). Octavo. (Light spotting first and last few leaves.) Original wine-red cloth, spine lettered in gilt, lower cover with publisher’s device stamped in blind (extremities lightly rubbed, spine tanned, endpapers lightly browned); original dust-jacket with illustration by Fenwick (creased, several closed tears and nicks, extensive tape repairs to verso). Provenance: contemporary gift inscription (verso of front free endpaper, dated Christimas 1939) — Frits Menschaar (no internal evidence of provenance).

First English edition. McIlvaine A79(b). Octavo. Original red cloth, spine and upper cover lettered in gilt; original photographic dust-jacket (light creasing, spine ends a trifle rubbed). Provenance: Frits Menschaar (no internal evidence of provenance).

First edition. Listed under McIlvaine A67(b). Octavo. One leaf of ads at end. Original orange cloth, spine and upper cover lettered in black, spine and lower cover with publisher’s device stamped in black; original price-clipped dust-jacket (price-clipped, lightly rubbed, small stain to lower panel affecting a letter, a few small tears and chips to edges and spine ends). Provenance: W. H. Barrett (bookseller’s ticket paste to front pastedown).

First American edition. McIlvaine A80(b). Octavo. Original green cloth-backed black boards, spine lettered in silver, upper cover with author’s signature in facsimile stamped in silver, top edge stained black (faintly marked); original dust-jacket with design by Dick Dodge (lightly rubbed, light spotting to spine, a few closed tears and small chips).

First English edition. McIlvaine A90(b). Octavo. Original terracotta cloth, spine lettered in white; original dust-jacket with illustration by Osbert Lancaster (top edge lightly soiled, small closed tear to one joint). Provenance: contemporary gift inscription (front free endpaper, dated Xmas 1969).
