We present you this exquisite gilded bronze box hailing from the Napoleon III period. It represents a scene from Classical Antiquity that captures the romantic rendezvous between two lovers, set against a backdrop of a woman harvesting on the right and a mans arrival by boat on the left. The couple is accompanied by a cupid, symbolising desire, erotic love, attraction and affection. The inside of the box is elegantly lined with vintage velvet fabric in gold-yellow. The sides of the box are adorned with ornamental gadroon edging.
