Left side parchment document with a gilded-paste eagle of early style. Right side parchment documenting honorary bestowal of citizenship to Röhm, written in calligraphy style black lettering with "ERNST RÖHM" rendered in gilded-paste large lettering. Featured in the publication "International Militaria Collector", Volume 12, Number 1, B&D Publishing, Dietrich Maerz, pp. 47-52. In an attempt to erase Röhm from German history, most items belonging to him were destroyed resulting in extreme rarity of such surviving pieces.
Ernst Julius Günther Röhm (28 November 1887 - 1 July 1934) was a German military officer and a leading member of the Nazi Party. A close friend and early ally of Adolf Hitler, Röhm was the co-founder and leader of the Sturmabteilung (SA), the Nazi Party's original paramilitary wing, which played a significant role in Adolf Hitler's rise to power. He served as Chief of the SA from 1931 until his murder in 1934 during the Night of the Long Knives.
