A GEORGE III PASTE-SET AND SILVER-MOUNTED ORMOLU DRESSING TABLE MIRROR WITH AUTOMATON AND MUSICAL MOVEMENT

ATTRIBUTED TO JAMES COX, LONDON, CIRCA 1775

CASE: the oval adjustable double-sided dressing mirror within a molded frame mounted with silver foliage, the interior of the case engraved with an arrow and an upside-down 5, both mirror plates replaced, with printed and inscribed Ann and Gordon Getty Collection inventory label

‌AUTOMATON: the base with automaton panels on each side, the six-tune pin barrel musical movement with fifteen hammers striking eight bells, driven by a fusee movement



19 1/2 in. (49.5 cm.) high, 11 1/2 in. (29.2 cm.) wide, 7 in. (17.8 cm.) deep
