GARDNER, Erle Stanley (1889-1970). The Case of the Sulky Girl. New York: William Morrow and Company, 1933.
First edition of the second Perry Mason mystery in the rare dust-jacket. Octavo. Original black cloth, spine and upper cover lettered in red (spine slightly cocked and ends just bumped, endpapers browned); original dust-jacket (spine sunned, lightly rubbed and creased, chips to spine ends resulting in minor losses to title and ‘Morrow Mystery’ assignation).

First UK edition of a Perry Mason mystery. Octavo. Original orange cloth, titles to spine on a black ground (slightly cocked, spine faintly sunned); original dust-jacket priced at 8/- (lightly rubbed).

First UK edition, presentation copy. Octavo. Original green cloth, spine lettered in black (faint marks to spine, fore-edge a little spotted, browning to endpapers); original dust-jacket priced at 8/6 (somewhat soiled and creased, closed tears to upper and lower panels). Provenance: Mr & Mrs Al Sachs (authorial presentation inscription to front free endpaper) — loosely inserted letter from the author to Mr. Al Sachs (signed and with autograph annotations in pen, dated December 22).

First UK edition of a Philo Vance mystery. Octavo. Original blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt (light browning to endpapers); original dust-jacket (lightly rubbed and creased with a few nicks to edges).

Provenance: Charles Honce (bibliographer, authorial presentation inscription from ‘Fred’ to front flypaper).

Provenance: Charles Honce (bibliographer, presentation inscription to front free endpaper: ‘To Charles Honce who is the sort of reader for whom the forthcoming ‘101 years entertainment’ was collected – With the best wishes of the author ‘Ellery Queen’’.)

Original red cloth, spine lettered in black, green endpapers (slightly cocked, extremities lightly rubbed); original dust-jacket designed by Bip Pares priced at 7s. 6d. (lightly rubbed, backstrip sunned with chipped ends causing some textual loss, some closed tears and chips, most repaired with tape on verso). Provenance: contemporary ownership inscription to front free endpaper, dated 1935.
