MUSIC – Group of 11 works presented to Mica and Ahmet Ertegun for their contributions to music. 20th–21st centuries.

A tribute to Mica and Ahmet Ertegun’s lifelong contributions to the arts.

If a single subject permeated the lives of Mica and Ahmet Ertegun more than any other, it was music. In addition to her contributions to the world of interior design, Mrs Ertegun worked across her life to support artists and musicians across genres, forms and styles. As a co-founder of Atlantic Records, Ahmet Ertegun played a pivotal role in shaping the sound of the 20th and 21st centuries by propelling the recording careers of many of the greatest artists of the past century – Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Led Zeplin, Bette Midler and the Rolling Stones. In the 16 years after her husband’s death, Mrs Ertegun pursued causes important to her life that have benefited the humanities around the world, and continued her husband’s legacy in many exceptional ways – not least through her outstanding commitment to Jazz at Lincoln Center who in 2015 dedicated The Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Atrium in their name.

This collection of books, scores and other works – each personally presented to the Erteguns – is a powerful tribute to their lasting impact on music and those who make it.
