Александр Самохвалов родился в г. Дегтярске Свердловской области, окончил Уральское училище прикладного искусства в Нижнем Тагиле (1979). Член Союза художников России (с 2008).
Ведущий жанр в творчестве художника - пейзаж, который, являясь авторским истолкованием природных явлений, становится для него разворачивающимся свитком, на котором запечатлены, помимо видимых красот, незримые ценности и смыслы, наполняющие его сердце и душу. Натурный материал, являющийся для автора главным источником вдохновения, перерастает в живописные полотна, радующие разноообразием настроений и многокрасочностью палитры.
Пейзажи А. Самохвалова, лирическое высказывание авторов о родной природе, запечатлённой в разное время года и разное время суток, впечатляют цельностью формы и идейного выражения, прозрачной ясностью высказывания, гармоничной уравновешенностью. Это торжественный и звучный гимн, исполненный художником в красках, вызывающий активное эмоциональное переживание. Энергичные ритмы, интенсивная цветовая палитра, активные тепло-холодные и светотеневые контрасты придают работам художника внутреннюю экспрессию при отсутствии внешней динамики.
Художественная интерпретация природы в исполнении А. Самохвалова становится выражением метафизической сущности невидимого мира, воплощение культуры, которая формирует мировоззрение человека, времени, в котором он живёт, это увиденная, пережитая, осмысленная, преображённая художником и переданная зрителю реальность. Формируясь внутри человеческой души, он является частью ментальной сущности не только художника, но и его народа, его страны.

О рисунках...Я их спалил около четыреста штук...Работы которые занимали
Первые места и Призовые порвал...Хотя к каждому рисунку был Диплом...
Остальные семьсот просто банально выбросил в мусорный бак...
Почему я так поступил...Мои рисунки на аукционе оценили в семь центов США
каждый а я не дворник и имею профессию...
О себе...Имею более шестидесяти пяти Сертификатов по Психологии и Психиатрии...
Победитель Международной Олимпиады по Возрастной Психологии в 2018 году...
Учился или нет Вам решать...Дистанционно/Онлайн сидел в МГАХИ имени
Сурикова...Вернее поступал туда что то они мне ответили...И я плотно сел
на их Сайт в Социальной Сети ВКонтакте...Да так что они прислали вопрос
на Бакалавра...Вроде было так...Потом узнал что сдают рисунки на Магистра...
Выложил свой...Прочитал в списках что защитил...Было это в 2016 году...
Диплом не нашёл в интернете...По этому будем считать что я самоучка...
