В Вильнюсе и в Кельне (Германия) учился как музыкант, композитор. Его произведения были успешно исполнены и награждены в нескольких странах. Он долгое время работал музыкальным педагогом.
Как художник Донатас Прушевичюс обнаружил себя позже, хотя это желание рисовать, как он признает, жил с ним много лет. Некоторое время назад литовский художник переехал в Берлин, где начал реализовывать свою мечту.
"При написании музыки я хорошо познакомился с раскрытием музыкальной мысли в пространстве времени. В живописи прошлое, настоящее и будущее запечатлены в каждой картине. Для меня очень важно, чтобы картины были законченными, выражая ясное эмоциональное состояние или мысль. Я рисую так, как сочиняю» (Д. Прусевичюс)
